Did you know that in our Starting Solids course, we tell you to hold off on introducing certain foods until after your baby turns one. What foods you ask?

Egg whites - your baby’s digestive tract can’t break down these difficult to digest proteins, ultimately harsh on baby’s gut lining

Grains - they contain a type of carbohydrate called disaccharides that can feed bad bacteria in the gut. Holding off will allow your baby’s gut time to acquire a wide range of good bacteria

Honey - baby’s don’t have strong enough stomach acid before 1 year old to deal with the potential bacteria that can cause infant botulism

Shellfish - it’s one of the most common allergens, we recommend cautiously introducing after baby is 1
